The 2nd Battalion Fire District is located on the south shore of Long Island, New York. It is comprised of the Baldwin, Freeport, Island Park, Long Beach, Oceanside, Point Lookout-Lido and Atlantic Beach Rescue fire departments.
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Ex-Captain Thomas Holdener, Emergency Co. Freeport FD, brother of Ex-Chief Richard Holdener.
He will be reposing at Hungerford & Clark 110 Pine St. Freeport NY Tuesday 2 to 4, 7 to 9.

Emmitsburg, MD — The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) United States Fire Administration (USFA) issued a special report today examining the characteristics and causes of Large Loss Building Fires (PDF, 834 Kb). The report, developed by USFA's National Fire Data Center, is based on 2007 to 2009 data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).
